Say it ain’t so! Vanessa Harrell was expecting some food for the soul Thursday afternoon but that wasn’t before her Uber Eats delivery driver decided to have a taste test like she was at Sam’s Club.
Vanessa claims that her Uber Eats driver must have eaten some of the food as she posted on her Facebook page that some of the meat & yams were missing. She had ordered from the restaurant April’s Place in Lithia, Georgia before and had never had an issue until today. Her post has now received over 20,000 shares as showed a picture of her to empty struggle to go plate. She had this to say about the Soul Food bandit.
#Twahnica you should be ashamed of yourself. I would have given you the entire order if you told me you were hungry. Don’t do this to people.
I ordered #UberEats from the same restaurant that I’ve ordered from before and this time the new delivery driver ate my food… NEVER AGAIN. I called the restaurant and texted them this picture, the lady at the restaurant that made my food said, “the driver ate all of your meat and some of your yams too.” 😳😳😳 MY TRUST IS GONE FOREVER!!!
A quick search through Facebook and another person accused Twahnica of eating some of her food before as well.
Homegirl is a Soul Food burglar and sis has to be stopped if it’s true. We don’t play about her food.
So far Uber Eats has now responded to the claim yet but we will be watching.
What would you do if you thought a driver ate some of your food?
“Shoot on Sight”: NYPD Inspector Threatened 50 Cent
Deputy Inspector Emanuel Gonzalez is now under investigation following reports that he allegedly told officers to shoot 50 cent on sight during roll call.
On the morning of February 17th, 50 Cent took to Twitter to share news of the threat he received from the NYPD inspector. Employed at the 72nd Precinct in Sunset Park, the Deputy told officers June 7th of 2018 to shoot the rapper on sight when he was expected to attend an NYPD sanctioned boxing event.
NYPD officials have now confirmed that after the Daily News report of the threat emerged, a full investigation is underway. The threat on 50 Cent’s life was made when he was expected to be in the Bronx. Astounded by the lack of corruption within for force, Curtis “50 Cent” James Jackson III plans to pursue legal action and is consulting with his team to review his options
Although the news of a threat on his life is disconcerting, 50 wants fans to remember “there are some good people working in Law Enforcement. Like the officers that reported what he said to them.” He then called Emanuel Gonzalez a “gangsta with a badge,” and questioned his employment as a commanding officer.
Examining A Few 2020 Presidential Hopefuls
After 2 years of muddling through the Trump Administration, Presidential hopefuls are confident they can break America out of the fog. As more contenders throw their hats into the ring, now is a good time to get to know your candidates and vet their qualifications.
As we await the conclusion of the Mueller investigation, democrats, and an increasing amount of republicans, have expressed their fervent disapproval of the sitting Commander-In-Chief. Still, that has not stopped him from announcing his bid for re-election. Donald Trump believes he will claim certain victory, as there is only one elected president before him that has not received his party’s nomination. Regarding qualifications, Trump is sure his recent tax bill that inadvertently lowered expected refunds along with tax rates for 80% of Americans, according to the Tax Policy Center, will secure his second term. His life in-and-out of politics has been marred with controversy. Between a massive collusion scandal, a refusal to disclose his tax returns, and a glaring mistreatment of migrant children, Trump has more than proven he is incapable of the esteemed position. However, should the Mueller probe end successfully, Trump will see prison bars before he sees the Oval Office again.
The self-proclaimed Democratic-Socialist has confirmed he is running for president in the 2020 elections. Famously admired among young voters, Bernie Sanders has a complicated relationship with the party he does not claim. Many blame Bernie Sanders for splitting the Democratic party during the 2016 elections. Running on a platform of progressive values, Bernie advocates for a livable minimum wage, Medicare for all, higher taxes for the rich, and aggressive measures to combat climate change. Registered as an Independent, it is unclear if Sanders will run within his 3rd party of if he will work to secure the Democratic Party’s nomination. Regarding scandal, Bernie was a target of a 2015 deal between the DNC and Hilary Clinton’s campaign as revealed by Former DNC interim Chairwoman Donna Brazile. The deal resulted in the DNC defaulting on the principle of supporting presidential candidates in equal fashion throughout the primaries. Ultimately this leak of information caused Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, then head of the DNC, to resign. The Vermont Senator also has a complicated voting record where his opinions on gun control waver.
Announcing her run on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Harris is determined to make the jump from the Senate to the Oval Office. However, opinions vary on the former prosecuting attorney due to her record and relationship with the criminal justice system. Kamala is a Howard University alum that went on to study law at Hastings College. She advanced her career by becoming a fierce prosecuting attorney, securing the district attorney spot, and ultimately ascending to attorney general. Recently, Kamala made national waves while pressing Brett Kavanaugh during hearings ahead of his confirmation vote. Still, the fear of her enacting policies that would disproportionately affect marginalized communities lingers. Should she secure the democratic nomination, Harris would be the first African-American and Indian-American president as well as first female president.
Confident that she will help re-establish the middle class, Warren has announced her bid. The Massachusetts Senator has pledged to fight for structural change. Warren is an alum of both the University of Houston and Rutgers Law School. She is a progressive Democrat who champions for student loan reform. Having advocated for the creation of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Warren is committed to fighting corporate capitalism. In 2018, Senator Elizabeth Warren made the mistake of releasing her DNA results in an effort to end insults made by President Trump who frequently called her Pocahontas. She previously exploited her Native American ancestry and listed herself as a minority professor at Harvard Law School.
This post will be followed with updates as individuals enter the race.
Dapper Dan Meets With Gucci, Develops Inclusion Action Plan
Following the celebrity supported Gucci boycott, Dapper Dan met with the brand to discuss diversity, inclusion, and accountability. Their meeting concluded, the cultural icon of hip-hop fashion design plans to hold all fashion houses accountable for diversity and inclusivity within their respective brands.
Daniel “Dapper Dan” Day, along with a team of experts, approached Gucci with demands that the fashion house acts in the best interest of underrepresented groups. Comprised of ninety percent people of color, the team of corporate experts sat down with Gucci executives to develop a long-term action plan to make amends for a racially-insensitive balaclava design.
The $890 sweater featured a balaclava that, when extended, covered the wearer and mimicked blackface. Causing an immediate social media uproar, Gucci removed the sweater and acknowledged their mistake. Dapper Dan, who frequently used the brands imagery while establishing himself as a hip-hop couturier, was taken aback.
In 2017, recognition from Jay-Z and Black Twitter earned Dap a partnership with the luxury clothier. Dapper Dan partnered with Gucci’s CEO and creative director to develop a line of men’s wear. Ultimately, this resulted in a new atelier which opened in Harlem in 2018, making Dapper Dan of Harlem the first luxury fashion house in the Manhattan neighborhood. Still, this history of partnership and accomplishment did not muddy Dan’s feelings about Gucci’s despicable error.
Pledging to hold the brand accountable for their error, Dapper Dan and the corporate elite met with Gucci and discussed how the brand planned to atone for their cultural ignorance. Upon news of his meeting, celebrities who were participating in the boycott took to social media to share their discontentment. This prompted Dapper Dan to release a statement in defense of his meeting. He checked the culture on their disposal of Black fashion brands along with acknowledging the lack of opportunity for aspiring designers.
We have to LEARN TO EARN. What happened to all the Black fashion brands that failed since the ’80s? Was it because they didn’t get Black support, or was it because they didn’t know the business? Do you expect our young Black designers to spend 30+ years mastering fashion by teaching themselves as I did? How do you expect them to compete with the big brands if they don’t REALLY know the business? They need jobs and internships within these big brands so that they can learn and then branch out on their own.
We Must Hold Everyone Accountable
Addressing the opposition, Dapper Dan remarked that those who wanted to continue to boycott were free to do as they pleased. Before ending his statement, he added, “if anyone should be boycotted, it’s the brands that won’t give our young people an opportunity to learn. In an additional Instagram post featuring Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Jay-Z, Dapper Dan called out artists who purchased clothes on credit and then never patronized his business again once they achieved fame. Both the athlete and rapper-turned-business-mogul were integral in Dan’s reestablishment process after other luxury brands robbed him of his designs.
Insisting we must not only hold the brands accountable, but we must have a plan of action to amend the mistake and move forward, Dapper Dan invited Gucci to join the 21st century with new diversity and inclusivity policies. Their meeting, facilitated by a round-table of nearly ninety percent people of color, birthed an action plan for immediate implementation. Following the conclusion of their meeting, Gucci released a statement apologizing and outlining their long-term action plan to address culture and diversity awareness in the company.
Mediation, Resolution, Progress
Several key points of their intended plan include the creation of several jobs for global and regional directors for diversity and inclusion, a global learning program for diversity and inclusivity awareness, and a global exchange program. The company is also committing to a multi-cultural design scholarship. The 12-month fast track program, which partners with fashion schools, will amplify opportunities to underrepresented groups which will lead to full-time employment. Schools of focus for the scholarship are in New York (Harlem), Nairobi, New Delhi, Beijing, Hangzhou, Seoul, Tokyo, Beirut, London, and Dubai.
These immediate actions were developed with Dapper Dan, expert industry leaders, and Marco Bizzarri, Gucci’s current President and CEO. While many hold the ideology that you should not applaud a fish for swimming, it is important to remember that Gucci’s efforts are far above and beyond other companies, i.e. H&M.
Following H&M’s disastrous “Coolest Monkey In The Jungle” debacle, the company hired just two diversity leaders for their Global and North American markets and issued a public apology. The company has been unable to recover from their mistake which caused The Weeknd and G-Eazy to reject collaboration opportunities. One-year removed from their failure, H&M has recently announced 160 store closings worldwide.
Given Gucci’s response to their racist design and proposals for improvement, will you continue to boycott?
