Let’s Talk About the Double Standards of Cheating That Played on Married to Medicine
Ambition. Driven. Educated. Self-sufficient. Goal oriented.
These are all strong attributes that people desire in a mate. Female. Wait a second. A woman who has ambition, driven, educated, self-sufficient, and goal oriented does not all come to mind as a great mate. A woman needs to be pretty and not knowledgeable. She needs to be domestic and not ambitious. She needs to be exciting and not driven. She needs to be dependent and not goal oriented and self-sufficient.
“If a woman is not pretty, domestic, dependent, or exciting, then how can she ever marry and stay married?”
As a woman who is ambitious, driven, educated, and self-sufficient, it was hard to date and it was hard for a man to stay with me. I have been cheated on and I have put my career before my family. Yet, my career was important to my family and myself.
We have seen so many men on these reality television shows cheat on their wives and girlfriends with little regard for their commitment. We have witnessed them cheating on camera and off camera without understanding that behind the cameras are real people. I am sure that you, and I have done it as well, tweeted and updated your Facebook status about how wrong these men are. I have never thought it was okay to talk about how stupid or dumb the women are for staying, but in the midst of another cheating scandal being just another Sunday on whatever TV network, it was stunning to see Dr. Jackie experience her husband cheating.
Dr. Jackie from Married to Medicine is an extremely ambitious woman. She is ambitious in so many facets of her career that it is stunning how much she does work. In many cases, her cast mates needed to go to her office for lunch just to see her. She said that since the show, there has been a surge in her business, so why walk away since she is finally reaching where she wants to be? Excellent question.
We all watched how her husband was making large decisions to not be around. He decided to not go on the couple’s trip during the last season, which left Jackie all alone on a couple’s trip. He cared less if he embarrassed her or hurt her feelings then, so why are we surprised that he would openly take trips and cheat on his high school coaching salary? I shouldn’t be surprised, but boy am I hurt her.
Dr. Jackie represents women who are ambitious, driven, educated, and self-sufficient. It is clear that she does not need her husband Curtis. She just loved him. The question is now, why does she, or us, women have to give up our ambition in order to have a healthy, faithful marriage? My feminist hat says that you don’t have to give it up. But my reality is that you must temper your ambition and drive to be married. It isn’t fair that women have to make such a large sacrifice in marriage. Curtis is wrong, but Mrs. Jackie would have stayed faithful. Yet, Curtis, as many men do, they justify their cheating with the lack of attention and commitment women have to them in their careers.

In a story published Tuesday evening, Page Six is reporting that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are getting divorced, with the two already in settlement talks. The news comes after the couple spent the holiday season separately – Kanye at his ranch outside Cody, Wyoming, Kim and the kids with her famous family in southern California.
A source close to Kardashian was quoted saying, “Kim got Kanye to go up there so they could live separate lives and quietly get things sorted out to separate and divorce. She’s done.” Kardashian, 40, and West, 43, are said to be splitting because of marital problems directly related to Kanye’s very public mental health struggles.
For several years the rapper’s various antics have caused fans to worry. After coming out as a Trump supporter, West then announced his own 2020 presidential bid under a new political party: the Birthday Party. At a campaign rally in South Carolina, he was seen rambling, debating individual audience members, and at times, crying. In various interviews, he has rambled on almost incoherently, and his tweetstorms are now infamous.
For her part, Kim has always supported her husband and has openly discussed the difficulties of their marriage. Back in June, she shared on social media, “Anyone who has [bipolar disorder] or has a loved one in their life who does, knows how incredibly complicated and painful it is to understand… People who are unaware or far removed from this experience can be judgmental and not understand that the individual (has) to engage in the process of getting help no matter how hard family and friends try.”
It appears she has finally reached her limit in the union with the unnamed source saying, “She is serious about taking the bar exam and becoming a lawyer, she is serious about her prison reform campaign. Meanwhile Kanye is talking about running for president and saying other crazy s**t, and she’s just had enough of it.”
Separately, a source close to Kanye alleges the rapper is sick of his wife and her family, which might have some truth to it since he has tweeted some pretty nasty things about them in the past. “I been trying to get divorced since Kim met with Meek at the Warldolf [sic] for ‘prison reform,’” he said in a now-deleted July tweet. Recently, he hasn’t been featured on his wife’s Instagram and has largely remained out of the public eye.
With the news yet to be confirmed, the “divorce is imminent” reports are just rumors for now. We’ll be following the news as more information comes out.
