#EastSideKate Trends In Racist Viral Video

Hospitality company AirBnB is in the spotlight once again for anti-Black hosts that represent their brand poorly. A video of several guests being berated as they were ejected from a property has gone viral. After hearing the host ask “Which monkey is going to stay on the couch?,” public outrage has prompted calls for the company’s response and appropriate action to be taken against the host.

Owner and Executive Chef of The Caged Bird in Washington DC, Meshach Cisero, shared the painful experience he and four others endured in New York City. The group of five was ejected from an Upper East Side property at 2am after a verbal dispute with the owner. Claiming they had only agreed to accommodations for four, the host ‘Kate’ insulted the group by asking which ‘monkey’ would sleep on the couch.

After berating the group of five men, Kate insisted that they all leave. Stating Kate “felt unsafe” and believed the men would destroy her property, Meshach says she told them to “Get the f*** out of her house immediately!” The group quickly grabbed their things and left while she continued hurling insults. Fearing for their own safety and without accommodations, the five men called NYPD for assistance and reached out to AirBnB directly.

Displeased with how the guests were treated, AirBnB released a statement reiterating their Open Door policy and stance on discrimination. Spokesman Ben Breit spoke with the DailyMail and condemned the behavior of the host. Stating, “The language used in this video is unacceptable and has no place in the AirBnB community.” the company wants it to be clear there’s no tolerance for such horrid treatment. Still many are awaiting what action will be taken to prevent this from happening to other guests along with what punishment the perpetrator will face.

In the past, AirBnB has received a lot of hate for the way they handle instances of discrimination. Believing the company has not been hard enough on bigots, Twitter users are calling for a permanent ban of Kate and her spouse, denying them access to the platform in perpetuity. While Cisero and his guests were provided lodging for the remainder of their stay, he is encouraging AirBnB to reevaluate the requirements for hosting.

In a video response thanking social media users for their support, Cisero said he’s glad he could shed light on the situation and hold the host and AirBnB accountable for the services they offer and how they fell short.

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend Share News of the Loss of Their Unborn Child

Published

on

Early Thursday morning Chrissy Teigen and John Legend let the world know of the loss of their unborn child. In a heartfelt and heartbreaking post to social media, Teigen described her and husband John Legend’s “deep pain you only hear about.” She went on to talk about how the couple does not typically name their children “until the last possible moment after they’re born, just before (they) leave the hospital,” but somehow they fell on the name “Jack.”

The heartbreaking news comes just days after first being admitted to the hospital for what she described as heavy bleeding. However, two days ago, she assured fans that both her and baby were healthy and doing well. Teigen, no stranger to social media, continued to engage her following, giving brief updates along the way, when shortly after midnight she shared photos of her and John in the hospital cradling their newborn in the immediate aftermath.

While her husband has remained largely unproblematic and scandal-free, Teigen has been the frequent target of scathing criticism – much of which is completely valid. From her ridiculing Black hair, to her seemingly mocking intimate partner violence when she referenced Megan Thee Stallion and Tory Lanez’s incident, Chrissy Teigen has been the focus of such harsh vitriol that she has threatened to quit social media altogether on multiple occasions. Sharing such personal news with the world may come as a surprise to many.

Overwhelmingly, however, the internet’s response has been positive and embracing. Celebrities and non-celebs alike have offered words of support to the couple as they go through this difficult time. See both the model’s post and the heartwarming responses to it below.

Nas Attacks Doja Cat In New Song, “Ultra Black”

Published

Nas seems to be scrambling for relevance. In a newly released song, he included a line that fired a shot at Doja Cat… who nobody was talking about.

“We going Ultra Black, Unapologetically Black, The opposite of Doja Cat”

Nas, Ultra Black

Now, if y’all will recall, Kanye was doing his able-bodied best to undermine multiple socio-political movements just a few weeks. So it’s interesting that Nas mentions Doja instead of the much more active threat, but to each her own. Twitter agrees:
